About Sunderland Psychological Wellbeing Service
Sunderland Psychological Wellbeing Service (SPWS) is a commissioned group of mental health care providers from the NHS and third sector, comprising of:
- Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust
- Sunderland Counselling Service
- Washington Mind
- Sunderland Mind
The organisations work in partnership to provide assessments and a range of treatments for people with common mental health problems. These may include Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, (OCD), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Post- Traumatic Stress and Panic. We see adults from the age of 16 upwards and there is no upper age limit.
All of our therapy interventions are provided by qualified practitioners. We employ a range of different practitioners and who works with you will depend on the therapy intervention you receive.
Sunderland IAPT can help with a number of common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and stress. You can access the service by referring yourself either using the online referral form or by calling 0191 566 5454. The referral telephone line is open Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am – 4:45pm and the online referral form can be completed any time that is convenient for you.
If you choose to fill in the referral form then a member of the admin team will be in touch to arrange a telephone triage for you with one of our therapists at a time that is convenient for you.
